The Master Perfumer
IFF-backed British niche line by Nicolas Beaulieu.
The Master Perfumer is a British niche fragrance brand launched in 2012, built around the work of Nicolas Beaulieu — an IFF perfumer trained at ISIPCA and the IFF school in Paris, with additional formation at Laboratoires Monique Rémy. The brand's premise is a perfumer-forward platform: Beaulieu acts as both creative anchor and marketing proposition, his name and expertise lending the collection its curatorial coherence. The catalogue extends to nearly thirty fragrances developed across a decade, with releases continuing into the early 2020s. The compositions cover a broad range of families — from fresh citrus-aromatics to deeper woody orientals — reflecting Beaulieu's technical breadth at IFF. Presentation is clean and contemporary, appropriate to the mid-niche positioning the brand occupies in the UK and European market. The house is a useful example of a broader trend in the 2010s: IFF-affiliated perfumers establishing parallel personal brands as consumers increasingly sought named-nose provenance in their fragrance choices. The Master Perfumer was among the earlier entrants in this category, predating the wave of similar projects that followed.
DNA over time
Each column is an era. Each colored band shows that family’s share of accord weight across every perfume the house released in that window. Bigger band = the house leaned harder on that family.
