Tonatto
Italian precision perfumery from Turin.
Tonatto is the niche perfumery house founded around 2000 by Laura Bosetti Tonatto, who has been recognised since 1986 as the first Italian perfumer to offer made-to-measure fragrances and one of very few women noses working at that level globally. Raised in Turin and trained initially by an Egyptian master perfumer in Cairo before studying under Fragonard's Serge Kalouguine in Grasse, she developed a technical fluency across traditions that gives Tonatto compositions their characteristic precision and layered richness. The house has created bespoke fragrances for extraordinary clients — among them a secret composition for Queen Elizabeth II in 2008 and a series inspired by spaces within the Vatican Museums in 2020 — while also maintaining a retail collection of fifty-five fragrances. Her daughter Diletta Tonatto has joined the house as a perfumer, extending the family lineage into a second generation. The brand represents the most serious vein of Italian artisan perfumery, steeped in both craft and narrative.

Each column is an era. Each colored band shows that family’s share of accord weight across every perfume the house released in that window. Bigger band = the house leaned harder on that family.
