Toskovat'
Scent as emotional document from Bucharest.
Toskovat' was established in 2022 in Bucharest by David-Lev Jipa-Slivinschi as one of Romania's first internationally visible niche perfume ventures. The name translates from Russian as 'to long for' or 'to yearn,' signaling the house's intent to treat fragrance as an emotional and autobiographical medium. Jipa-Slivinschi trained in perfumery and composes all fragrances in-house, approaching each release as a personal document — grounded in the textures of Bucharest's architecture, its Soviet-era spaces, and the specific atmospheres of Central-Eastern European lived experience. Compositions tend toward raw, textured accords that resist easy comfort: concrete and rain, tobacco and old wood, bitter greenery. The house has attracted niche fragrance community attention for its conceptual rigour and the specificity of its emotional register, occupying a genuinely distinctive position among Eastern European independent perfumers. Toskovat' distributes through its own site and a small network of international niche boutiques.
