Truefitt & Hill
Gentlemen's grooming since 1805.
Truefitt & Hill was founded in 1805 by hairdresser William Francis Truefitt on London's Bond Street and holds the distinction of being the world's oldest barbershop according to the Guinness Book of Records. A Royal Warrant holder, the house has served the British royal family and generations of gentlemen seeking exacting standards in shaving and grooming. Its fragrance portfolio — including Trafalgar, 1805, and Grafton — draws directly from British traditional masculinity: bergamot-led colognes, fern accords, warm woody bases, and the clean powdery depth associated with fine shaving preparations. The connection between scent and ritual is fundamental to the Truefitt & Hill experience; their fragrances are designed to complement their barbering products, particularly the distinguished shaving soaps and creams. Prestige pricing reflects heritage positioning and the deliberate exclusivity of their flagship St. James's Street premises, which still operates as a working barbershop rather than a mere retail concept.
