By the editors · 2 min readAn unusual designer move for 2013. Papaya and lemon open with a tropical-citrus brightness that reads more cocktail than cologne, and the papaya in particular gives the first minutes a sweet-flesh roundness most masculine fragrances avoid. The opening tilts young, beachy, slightly adolescent.
Cannabis in the heart is the gimmick and the reason this fragrance still gets talked about — but it's a clean, herbaceous take, more dried-leaf than smoke, and pulls the composition toward green territory rather than skunky. Hinoki and musk in the base swap the tropical-fruit opening for a quiet woody hum: hinoki adds a dry, almost-cypress smoothness, musk smooths the seams. Modest longevity, close projection. A spring-summer flanker with more personality than its bottle suggests.
