By the editors · 2 min readSottosopra opens with a jolt of iced mint and a soft crush of strawberry and plum, their sweetness tempered by citrus that keeps the fruitiness from tilting saccharine. The contrast feels deliberate, almost architectural—cool against warm, green against red. This isn't a gourmand so much as a study in controlled dissonance.
As it settles, white florals emerge through the fruit like shapes through fog. Jasmine and lily of the valley lend a soapy, almost retro cleanliness, while the mint lingers at the edges. The base eventually grounds everything in leather and incense, with enough patchouli and vetiver to darken the palette without overwhelming the brighter opening notes.
The effect is restless and bi-polar, true to its name—upside-down, inside-out. It suits someone comfortable with contradiction: formal but irreverent, fresh but shadowed. Not an easy wear, but a compelling one for those who prefer their florals complicated.
