Tabac Blond Parfum
A leather perfume in the old sense — not the bright suede of modern releases but the smoky, animalic kind that took its character from birch tar and quinoline.

By the editors · 2 min readA leather perfume in the old sense — not the bright suede of modern releases but the smoky, animalic kind that took its character from birch tar and quinoline. The top is leather first, lime second, the citrus a small bright cut against a thick dark surface.
The heart drifts into iris and ylang-ylang, a powdery-floral counterweight that softens but does not tame the leather. Vetiver runs through the middle, dry and rooted, keeping the floral plush from sliding into something feminine.
The base resolves into vanilla, cedar, patchouli, and musk — a warm haze that absorbs the leather rather than erasing it. Wears for hours. Suited to cold weather, formal evenings, smoke-tinged rooms.
