The heart is where the perfume changes character. Orris pulls in a cool, rooty powder; jasmine softens it; tobacco and papyrus lay down a dry, slightly smoky thread. The flowers and the smoke share equal billing rather than one yielding to the other.
The dry-down is plush and long. Tonka, vanilla and amber sweeten the base while leather, vetiver, sandalwood and patchouli keep it from tipping gourmand; moss and labdanum give it a chypre weight. It wears for evening occasions in cool weather and projects insistently for hours.
