By the editors · 2 min readInsouciance is the violet entry in Mathilde Laurent's 2021 Rivières quartet, and it commits fully to the vegetal reading of the flower rather than the candied one. Forest violet opens powdery and faintly sour, with fennel seed and dill setting an unexpected aromatic-anisic backdrop that pulls the floral toward the herb garden.
Celery leaf and carrot top push the strangeness further — these are real notes here, not garnish — and iris emerges late, dry and earthy, taking the powder edge off the violet without sweetening it.
Close to the skin, restrained, deliberately uncrowded. A scent that reads more like a watercolor study than a finished perfume — and that's exactly its appeal.
