By the editors · 2 min readA leonine roar rendered in warm, resinous tones. Le Lion opens with a brief flash of bergamot before the heart takes over—labdanum and amber create a honeyed, almost leathery richness that feels both opulent and slightly feral. The citrus introduction vanishes quickly, making way for something darker and more substantial.
As it settles, sandalwood and vanilla soften the amber's intensity without taming it entirely. There's a thickness here, a golden weight that clings to skin. Patchouli adds an earthy shadow beneath the sweetness, preventing the composition from turning too plush. The musk in the base keeps everything close and skin-like rather than projecting loudly.
This feels like Chanel exploring a more overtly sensual territory—still polished, but with an animalic undertone that separates it from the house's cooler classics. Best suited to those who want amber's warmth with enough complexity to hold interest beyond the initial impression.
