Rock Rose
Rock Rose is one of Clive Christian's more compositionally interesting entries — placing labdanum in the heart alongside lavender, violet, and clary sage creates an arrangement where the resinous depth arrives early rather than waiting for the base.

By the editors · 2 min readRock Rose is one of Clive Christian's more compositionally interesting entries — placing labdanum in the heart alongside lavender, violet, and clary sage creates an arrangement where the resinous depth arrives early rather than waiting for the base. Black pepper, neroli, and bergamot provide a sharp, clean opening with neroli's citrus-floral brightness distinctly present. In the heart, labdanum's earthy-sweet resinous quality merges with lavender's herbal clarity and violet's delicate cool facet, clary sage grounding the whole with a slightly herbaceous, slightly musty character. Vetiver, amber, and patchouli complete the dry-down in expected aromatic-woody territory — but by then the heart's unusual architecture has established the fragrance's identity. The luxury-house quality is felt in the confidence of that choice.
