By the editors · 2 min readWonderoud opens with a jolt of black pepper and bergamot that quickly gives way to a dusty, slightly medicinal oud accord—more laboratory than souk. The sandalwood here feels skeletal rather than creamy, a bleached-wood framework around which vetiver and patchouli sketch shadows. Thyme adds an herbal astringency that keeps the composition from settling into warmth.

As it develops, the fragrance maintains an austere, almost conceptual quality typical of Comme des Garçons. The spices never bloom into sweetness; instead they reinforce the woody core's angular character. This is oud as idea rather than indulgence, stripped of the opulent associations that usually accompany the note.

Best suited to those who prefer their fragrances cerebral and uncompromising. Wonderoud forgoes sensuality for structure, offering a minimalist exploration of wood and spice that feels more architecture than adornment.
