By the editors · 2 min readMineral opens with saffron and nutmeg — two warm spices that together read as dense and slightly resinous. Saffron's leathery, slightly metallic character pairs with nutmeg's dry warmth, giving the opening a serious, almost medicinal edge.
Moss, oud, amber, patchouli, and musk build a dark, deep base. Oud is the anchor — woody, animalic, and dense; patchouli and moss add earthiness; amber provides resinous warmth. The base is heavy and projecting.
Mineral earns its name through the dry, dense quality of its construction — this is stone and spice rather than flower and fruit. Best reserved for cool evenings when the weight is appropriate and the complexity has room to develop.
