By the editors · 2 min readStar anise snaps open with a black-licorice edge that saffron dusts in dry hay bitterness. The two top notes ride straight into benzoin’s warm resin, where sandalwood’s creamy wood softens the resin’s sweetness while patchouli adds a dry, earthy crackle. Vanilla blooms late, turning the benzoin–sandalwood core into a supple amber glow that lingers close to skin. Projection stays quiet, projecting no farther than a forearm radius, yet the resinous wood accord survives eight hours on fabric. Cool fall evenings, a cashmere scarf and bookstore leather would suit its subdued, slightly foodie warmth.
