By the editors · 2 min readCumin and nutmeg open hot and slightly sweat-warm, with frankincense lending a cool resinous counterweight. The cumin reads skin-close from the first minute, lending the whole opening a slightly animalic edge.
Oud and labdanum form the heart — the oud medicinal and barnyard rather than smooth-modern, the labdanum dark, sticky, and slightly leathery. Together they build a dense, resinous oriental spine that tilts more raw than polished.
Civet, castoreum, sandalwood, amber, and vanilla close out a deeply animalic-amber drydown. The civet and castoreum push the late hours fur-warm and sweaty, with vanilla and amber softening the edges. Cedar adds a dry frame. A heavy, characterful cool-weather oud, evening territory only — strong, long-lasting, not for the timid.
