By the editors · 2 min readThe Special Blend is a limited elaboration on Acqua di Gio Profumo's smoke-and-sea formula, with adjustments that shift the balance slightly. The opening is the same: sea notes and bergamot together in the clean, slightly cool accord that defines the Profumo line. The herbal heart — sage, rosemary, geranium — reads as Mediterranean rather than purely aromatic, pulling the composition toward the botanical rather than the abstract marine.
Patchouli and incense in the base provide the same signature smokiness as the original, warm and dry without being heavy. The Special Blend tracks closely to its parent; the differentiation is in proportion rather than character. If you know Profumo, you'll recognize this immediately — a refinement, not a reimagining.
