By the editors · 2 min readOud Nude opens with an unexpected trio: incense's smoky spirituality, cumin's warm skin-adjacent earthiness, and almond's sweet-amaretto note. The combination reads as intimate and slightly unusual — warm skin rather than conventional oud's medicinal darkness, already signaling the composition's intent.
The heart's raspberry and Atlas cedar create a surprising contrast: bright berry against clean dry wood, a pairing that lifts and freshens before the base takes hold.
Sandalwood and vanilla smooth the dry-down into a warm, creamy register while oud appears as luminous resinous depth rather than dense darkness. Perfumer Delphine Jelk's stated ambition — oud in its most delicately luminous facets — is realized here. An approachable, intelligent entry point for wearers resistant to oud's more challenging registers; part of Guerlain's L'Art & La Matière collection.
