By the editors · 2 min readL'Eau d'Issey pour Homme is the archetype of the aquatic 90s men's fragrance, and almost thirty years on still the cleanest expression of the idea. The opening is citrus-sharp — yuzu, lemon, bergamot — with an herbal edge from tarragon and sage that keeps it from reading like a hotel shower gel.

The heart pivots into a spiced lotus-and-nutmeg accord, clean but not sterile, and the drydown is classic dry woods: sandalwood, cedar, a whisper of tobacco, a musk that stays close. Projection is moderate, longevity surprising for how airy the opening reads. Defaults: summer workdays, gym-to-dinner transitions, anyone who wants to smell freshly showered without smelling fifteen.
