Match Point

Sophie Labbé's Match Point opens with the clean sports-fragrance classic: grapefruit, pink pepper, and basil — the citrus providing snap, the pepper adding edge, and the basil grounding it with herbal greenness rather than kitchen associations.

The opening is energetic without aggression. Clary sage and geranium carry the heart, both in the herbal-aromatic family; gentiana adds a slightly bitter, mountain-meadow quality that distinguishes this from generic sport fragrances.

Vetiver and cashmeran form the base — the vetiver earthy and slightly smoky, the cashmeran adding smooth woodsy warmth that rounds out what might otherwise read as purely functional. Wears cleanly through the working day; completely inoffensive on a tennis court and equally appropriate at a desk. A well-constructed everyday masculine with a stronger personality than its genre typically delivers.
