By the editors · 2 min readLe Parfum 2021 is the house's flagship retooled for the praline era. The opening keeps the violet-and-anise handshake the original made famous, but reaches for the modern sweet bench: praline, vanilla, tonka stacked early so the gourmand statement is unambiguous.
The heart leans on tonka and violet again, trading the 1997's almond and pineapple for caramelized brown sugar and powdered candy. It loses some of the original's strangeness — the fairy-tale licorice church — and gains accessibility and projection.
White musk and patchouli ground the drydown with a cleaner, more contemporary finish than the older formulas. Strong, sweet, long-wearing, designed for compliments rather than connoisseurs. A 2020s flanker that knows exactly what shelf it's competing on.
