By the editors · 2 min readGinger and grapefruit open with a fresh-spicy snap, the ginger lending dry warmth and the grapefruit adding a bitter-citrus brightness. Despite the name, no oud is present in the opening at all.
Tonka, birch and vetiver form the heart. Birch contributes a smoky-leathery edge that pushes the composition toward darker territory, vetiver adds earth and tonka brings coumarin sweetness. The middle is unusual — moving from fresh top to dry-smoky-sweet centre quickly.
Amber, vanilla, styrax and musk close the composition. The amber-vanilla-resin combination is plush and slightly powdery, with styrax adding a balsamic depth. Overall the arc is a fresh-into-amber composition with a smoky woody middle, and the name's oud reference is more aesthetic than literal.
