Marc de la Morandière
Independent Parisian fine fragrance house collaborating with Grasse perfumers since 1987.
Marc de la Morandière founded his eponymous Paris house in 1987, making it one of the earliest French labels to position itself in what was then an emerging niche market — a contemporary of the first wave of L'Artisan Parfumeur and Diptyque scent expansion. The catalogue is small and anchored by long-running references such as M, Sissi, Nuage d'Or and Soir de Paris, written in a classical French register of soft florals, powders and amber. Production is described as handmade in Paris, and the brand has stayed independent rather than being absorbed into a larger group. Distribution is uneven outside France, with regular appearances at French department stores and a supporting cast of European resellers. Pricing sits in the niche tier, although stock can be erratic and many references move through grey-market and discounter channels.
DNA over time
Each column is an era. Each colored band shows that family’s share of accord weight across every perfume the house released in that window. Bigger band = the house leaned harder on that family.
