By the editors · 2 min readMystic Aromatic plays hot against cold. The opening is herb garden in full sun — basil cut green and savory, anise sweetening it from underneath, a clean licorice edge that reads almost cool.
The heart deepens with thyme, oregano, clary sage. The greens go from kitchen to apothecary, drier and more medicinal, faintly camphorous.
Then Peru balsam comes in and shifts the temperature. It is resinous, vanillic, faintly cinnamon-warm — a soft, almost ambered backdrop that pulls the herbs out of the salad and into something fougère-shaped, even oriental at the edges. The contrast is the whole point: cool herb on top, slow warm resin underneath, and a long quiet seam where the two meet.
