By the editors · 2 min readA green chypre from a midcentury house, opening on bergamot before falling almost immediately into a thicket of white florals. Tuberose, gardenia, ylang-ylang, lily of the valley and narcissus crowd the heart, with rose and jasmine threading between them — the kind of rich, slightly indolic bouquet that defined formal florals of the era.
Rosemary cuts a sharp herbal line through the middle, keeping the composition from turning syrupy. Underneath: oakmoss and moss laid against sandalwood, vetiver, benzoin and musk — a true chypre base, dry and earthy, with the soft resinous balsamic warmth benzoin contributes.
Dressy and full, made for an evening when something formal is appropriate.
