By the editors · 2 min readBelle de Minuit, from the early-2000s Belles de Ricci sub-line, plays a darker fruity-floral than was typical of the franchise. Black currant, orange, grapefruit, and bergamot open with a tart-citrus bite; the black currant in particular gives the opening a deep, slightly winey edge.
The heart is white-floral but kept restrained — jasmine, lily of the valley, and heliotrope, the heliotrope adding a soft almond-powder cast. The drydown is short on woods: tonka bean and sandalwood do the warming, and the result is more powdery than woody.
It reads more nighttime than the name suggests — discreet, faintly old-fashioned, and well-suited to dinner-and-after-dinner wear.
