By the editors · 2 min readTocade 2018 reformulates Maurice Roucel's 1994 original — a powdery rose-vanilla that built much of the modern sweet-rose vocabulary. The opening bergamot is brief; within minutes the fragrance settles into its real subject, a creamy rose draped over almond-tonka and labdanum.
Iris and jasmine sit alongside the rose without breaking its outline, and the base is a soft amber-vanilla that reads more confectionary than oriental. It projects moderately and lasts on cooler skin, a comfort-zone scent for cool-weather wear and informal evenings — sweeter and rounder than its 1994 predecessor remembered, with the powdery rose-almond signature intact.
