By the editors · 2 min readThe flagship of the Roja Dove Haute Parfumerie line behaves like a survey of the house's vocabulary. The opening is a citrus chord of grapefruit, lime, lemon, orange and bergamot, sharp enough to cut through the floral mass underneath. The heart is wide rather than deep — magnolia, jasmine, ylang, freesia and May rose laid out side by side with peach and clary sage.
Where the scent earns its name is the base. Oud, sandalwood, frankincense, cypriol, civet and labdanum compress into a single dark resinous mass; vanilla and tonka soften the corners. It dries down dense, smoky, faintly animalic — a long, slow, evening-shaped scent.
