By the editors · 2 min readSage opens alone with a dry, herbal character — slightly medicinal, aromatic, and green. The single top note sets a restrained, uncomplicated tone.
Incense, patchouli, and musk in the base move the composition toward a dark, earthy-resinous territory. Incense adds smoky depth; patchouli contributes earthiness and a slightly fermented quality; musk rounds the whole structure. This base has significantly more presence and character than the single-herb opening implies.
The contrast between an austere, clean herb and a smoky-earthy base is the defining feature. The composition develops from simplicity into something more textured and dimensional. Best suited to cooler seasons and introspective occasions — an understated, somewhat unconventional fragrance.
