By the editors · 2 min readCarved Oud opens with the rough-hewn earthiness of cypriol—sometimes called nagarmotha—a note that carries the musty, rooted quality of oud without being oud itself. Cardamom adds a dry, resinous spice that feels almost medicinal, setting a tone of austere woodiness from the first spray.

As it settles, patchouli darkens the composition further, folding into vetiver and sandalwood to create a textured, almost sculptural woodiness. The labdanum and amber provide a subtle resinous warmth rather than sweetness, grounding the fragrance in something close to antique wood and aged paper. Musk softens the edges just enough to keep it from feeling severe.

This is a fragrance for those drawn to the idea of oud's gravity without wanting the barnyard intensity or sweetness of actual agarwood. It wears like polished hardwood in a dimly lit library—serious, composed, and quietly imposing.
