By the editors · 2 min readMandarin Carnival opens like a citrus cologne — petitgrain and bergamot scrubbed clean, fizzy and slightly bitter — that promises a short, bright wear. For the first half-hour it delivers exactly that.
Then the heart blooms wider than expected. Neroli, orange blossom and freesia turn the citrus into a sunlit floral, soft-edged and a little wistful. The dry-down softens further into amber, a touch of rose and clean musk, the trail warmed but not heavy. Reads as a daytime fragrance with an evening's afterglow. Best in warm weather and outdoor settings; loses some of its lift indoors in winter.
