By the editors · 2 min readThe opening presents a sharp herbal clash—ginger and sage colliding with basil's green spice—before bergamot smooths the edges. This initial brightness feels almost medicinal, bracing rather than soft, establishing an unexpectedly confident foundation for what follows.
As it settles, the white florals emerge with vintage generosity. Tuberose and jasmine anchor a bouquet that includes ylang-ylang's creamy density and lily of the valley's cool breath, though rose remains subtle rather than dominant. The florals retain their individual character without blending into abstraction, creating a composition that feels deliberate rather than decorative.
The base draws everything into warmer, resinous territory. Labdanum and benzoin provide depth while vanilla and amber add sweetness without turning cloying. Cedar and patchouli give structure to what could otherwise drift saccharine, grounding the florals in something more substantial. This is early-nineties opulence with restraint—present without overwhelming, formal without feeling distant.
