By the editors · 2 min readVersus Donna is a fruity-floral chypre from the brink of the genre's commercial collapse. Black currant, raspberry, and plum land first — sticky, almost jam-like — but bergamot and violet pull the opening cool and slightly metallic.
The heart is plush: tuberose and jasmine wrapped around lily-of-the-valley, with sandalwood already creeping in from below. The base is where it earns its early-90s pedigree — benzoin, amber, vanilla, and iris over a soft musk, the kind of polished resinous tail that's now hard to formulate within IFRA limits.
Deep, almost matronly, but with enough fruit to keep it from feeling staid. A discontinued classic worth a sniff.
