By the editors · 2 min readLiwa — named for the vast oasis at the edge of Abu Dhabi's Empty Quarter — is one of Widian's most architecturally complex compositions. Saffron, artemisia's bitter-green astringency, bergamot, and jasmine open together in a dense, sun-warmed accord before white rose and geranium provide a cooler, more intimate heart above the amber. The base is a layered structure of incense, sandalwood, oud, patchouli, cedar, and vetiver — each note contributing to a foundation of considered weight and longevity. Perfumery in the Gulf tradition: total, opulent, built to persist on fabric through an evening. Yet the layers remain distinct rather than merging into a single wall of scent — a mark of the construction's intelligence.
