By the editors · 2 min readRum opens bruised-sweet and boozy, its molasses heft dripping over cold lavender and bruised plum to create a dusk-purple liquor accord. Black pepper sparks across the heart, cracking the sticky sugar so amber can pool warm and resinous while a dry, tarry rose keeps the center dark and leathery. Labdanum and opoponax stretch the amber into a rubbery, incense-smoked canvas that slowly absorbs the remaining plum until only a faintly fruity glow remains. Castoreum arrives late, adding an animalic rasp that turns the dry-down into smoky, fur-trimmed leather rather than cozy balsam. Projection hangs at arm’s length for six hours, projecting a louche, after-hours gravitas that favors unbuttoned evening occasions in cool weather.
