By the editors · 2 min readFanny Bal's 2021 leather is a polished, modern recasting of the discontinued Noble Leather — softer, sweeter, less driven by dried fruit. Bergamot, black pepper and lavender open with a brief aromatic snap that mostly serves to set up the leather underneath.
Saffron, thyme and orange blossom carry the heart, with a hint of geranium. The base is where the work is — leather and suede layered with patchouli, guaiac wood, vanilla and licorice. The licorice keeps the vanilla from going dessert-sweet and gives the leather an unusual menthol-anise cast. Projection is moderate to strong, longevity solid; this is a unisex leather built for cool-weather evening wear.
