Anna Sui
Bohemian-romantic American perfumery, by way of Tokyo and SoHo.
Anna Sui is the eponymous label of the American designer of the same name, a second-generation Chinese-American born in Detroit who launched her fashion brand in the early 1980s and opened her first SoHo boutique in 1992. The fragrance line debuted in 1999 under license with Wella; current licensing is held by Inter Parfums, which releases roughly two pillar fragrances a year alongside flankers. The perfume aesthetic mirrors Sui's wider design sensibility: bohemian, romantic, rococo-tinged, often built around dolls, butterflies, art-nouveau lace and pastel colour. Compositions lean fruity-floral and gourmand, packaged in collectible flacons designed as much for the dressing table as for wear. Recent releases have leaned into the Asian gifting market, particularly Japan and Greater China. It suits wearers who treat fragrance as part of a styled, decorative world rather than an austere personal signature.

Each column is an era. Each colored band shows that family’s share of accord weight across every perfume the house released in that window. Bigger band = the house leaned harder on that family.
