Aramis
The original American prestige men's fragrance.
Aramis was created by Estée Lauder in 1964 and named after the swordsman from Dumas's Three Musketeers. It was the first prestige men's fragrance widely stocked at department-store counters, and the original Aramis — a leather-and-oakmoss chypre by Bernard Chant — defined a particular kind of mid-century American masculinity that ran from Madison Avenue to Mad Men. The house has since expanded across pillars such as Aramis 900, Devin, JHL and Tuscany per Uomo, and now operates as the men's fragrance and grooming division of The Estée Lauder Companies, also serving as the corporate parent for Tommy Hilfiger fragrances. The contemporary catalogue blends classic reissues with modern flankers like Black, Gentleman's Cologne and Intuition, and pricing sits at the lower end of prestige, which keeps the heritage line accessible.

DNA over time
Each column is an era. Each colored band shows that family’s share of accord weight across every perfume the house released in that window. Bigger band = the house leaned harder on that family.
