Atelier Materi is a French niche house founded in 2019 by Véronique Le Bihan, organized around the concept of raw materials as the primary subject of each fragrance rather than narrative, emotion, or occasion. The name makes this explicit: 'materi' from the Latin for matter or material. Each release in the collection foregrounds a specific ingredient or material family—iris, vetiver, ambrette, musk—allowing that material's range of expression to take center stage with the support structure kept deliberately transparent. The approach is educational as well as aesthetic, inviting wearers into a direct encounter with raw materials in their various registers. Le Bihan draws on deep industry knowledge in developing the project. Atelier Materi distributes through specialty niche retailers internationally and is priced at the niche tier. The house has attracted positive notice for the clarity and intellectual honesty of its material-first concept.
