By the editors · 2 min readThe rum accord here is dark and almost medicinal at first—something between cherry-stained oak and aged molasses, with a faint acetone sharpness that keeps it from tipping into dessert. The cocoa note unfolds slowly, bitter and dusty rather than sweet, like the dry powder inside a tin rather than melted chocolate. It's grounded by sandalwood that feels pale and creamy, though never milky.
As it settles, the tonka and patchouli weave into the base, smoothing out the rum's edges without softening the composition entirely. The patchouli remains earthy and slightly raw, preventing the sweetness from becoming cloying. What emerges is something warm and slightly austere—more about wood and earth than indulgence.
This suits someone drawn to gourmands but uncomfortable with their usual plushness. It wears close, intimate, with a seriousness that stands apart from typical cocoa fragrances.
