Beaufort London
Dark British niche built on smoke and history.
Beaufort London was founded in 2013 by Leo Crabtree with the explicit intention of making fragrances that no one else was willing to make—unsettling, confrontational, and steeped in the darker chapters of British history. Each release in the collection is anchored to a specific historical moment: Val au Galant evokes the acrid aftermath of naval cannon fire, and Rake & Ruin conjures Georgian dissipation. The house works with perfumers to foreground challenging materials—tar, smoke, leather, birch—that mainstream houses treat as supporting elements, here elevated to protagonists. Beaufort does not soften its compositions for commercial palatability, a stance that has earned it a devoted following among fragrance enthusiasts who seek olfactory experiences over wearability. The brand is distributed through specialist niche retailers globally and remains entirely independent.

DNA over time
Each column is an era. Each colored band shows that family’s share of accord weight across every perfume the house released in that window. Bigger band = the house leaned harder on that family.
