Vertus
The Art of Scent, since the Akat family.
Vertus is a Paris-based niche house launched in 2015 by the Akat family, whose perfumery roots reach back to a 1969 production facility founded by Halil Akat. The brand emerged with an eleven-fragrance Exclusive Collection released simultaneously, a deliberately bold introduction that signalled intent to compete in the upper niche tier rather than build slowly title by title. The aesthetic is unapologetically opulent: oud, rose, saffron, leather, and gourmand tobacco recur across the line, often pitched at the high-projection end of contemporary perfumery. Bottles are heavy, gilded, and tactile. Vertus has become a fixture in airport luxury boutiques and Middle Eastern markets, and the family ownership remains unusual for a house operating at this price point. The house presents itself as French perfumery in the service of an ornate, internationally-minded clientele.

DNA over time
Each column is an era. Each colored band shows that family’s share of accord weight across every perfume the house released in that window. Bigger band = the house leaned harder on that family.
