By the editors · 2 min readLavender opens cool and camphorous, slicing through the dense mossy and oud that follow immediately. Jasmine and rose arrive next, but their petals feel dried and leathery, pressed flat by saffron’s papery dusk and the blunt smoke of guaiac. The base is a wall of oakmoss and patchouli, crumb-earth brown, with olibanum adding a church-bench resin that keeps the lumber from turning sour. As hours pass, the lavender retreats, letting the oud’s bandage-like funk mingle with the moss until the skin smells like an old cedar chest stored in a stone cellar. Projection stays arm-length for six hours, then collapses to a murmur of dry wood and skin musk. Cool autumn nights, dark coat required.
