By the editors · 2 min readCuir Noir opens with nutmeg and coriander — warm, slightly rough spices that put the senses on alert before the leather arrives. And arrive it does: the heart is dominated by a thick, almost architectural leather accord alongside rose and guaiac wood, the smoky resin of guaiac giving the leather a slight char that reads as expensive rather than harsh.
The base deepens considerably: oud and Australian sandalwood add resinous body, while benzoin and vanilla soften the edges just enough to keep the composition wearable. This is not a fragrance for tentative moods. Cuir Noir belongs to the Armani Privé collection, and it treats leather not as a supporting note but as the subject — everything else is context for the hide.
