By the editors · 2 min readBlack Prestigium opens with an unusual top: frankincense and iris alongside bergamot and patchouli — more resinous than citrusy. The frankincense introduces smokiness immediately, while iris adds an architectural coolness and bergamot prevents the whole thing from going too dark. It's a complex, mature opening that doesn't ease you in.
Bulgarian rose and violet in the heart soften the frankincense slightly without eliminating its edge. Patchouli threads through from top to heart, giving the rose a darker, earthier character than it would have on its own.
White musk and leather in the base resolve the tension between rose and frankincense into something unified and skin-close. A well-structured Mancera that uses patchouli as connective tissue throughout its entire arc.
