By the editors · 2 min readCiara is a 1970s oriental chypre that predates the decade's obsession with lighter forms. Neroli, raspberry, lemon, and bergamot open with a complex citrus-fruit-floral accord that already suggests depth. Orris, jasmine, and ylang-ylang in the heart form a lush, slightly powdery floral core — the orris providing chalk and root, jasmine its richness, ylang-ylang a creamy tropical quality. The base is the architectural statement: incense and leather give dark animalic depth, opoponax — a sweet myrrh-like resin — adding warm balsamic complexity, cedar structural dryness, vanilla bridging everything. A serious vintage oriental that repays patience.
