By the editors · 2 min readChypré Extraordinaire is the house's fruity-floral take on a classical chypre. Bergamot opens briefly and the heart blooms wide — tuberose, ylang, orange blossom, May rose and violet, threaded with plum and peach. The fruits read overripe rather than candied, which keeps the white florals from tipping saccharine.
The base is where the chypre framing arrives: oakmoss, patchouli, sandalwood, leather and iris build the dry mossy spine; civet and cumin add the animalic pulse; tonka, vanilla, amber, benzoin, clove and styrax fill the warm middle. It dries down dense, slightly powdery, unmistakably evening-shaped — long-lasting and more sober than the opening suggests.
