Bortnikoff
Natural perfumery from agarwood-distilled raw materials.
An artisanal niche house founded by Russian-born architect-turned-perfumer Dmitry Bortnikov, working out of Thailand. The brand grew out of Feel-Oud, a distillation venture Bortnikov co-founded in 2013 specialising in agarwood and sandalwood oils, which still supplies many of the raw materials behind the perfume line. Bortnikoff's signature is its insistence on near-total natural composition — typically ninety-five to one hundred percent natural ingredients — and on traditional nineteenth-century distillation techniques applied to oud, rose, ambergris, sandalwood and resins. Releases like Musky Wine, Sapphire Heaven, Moroccan Tobacco and Marrakesh tend to be dense, long-wearing and produced in small batches sold direct from the house. It suits collectors of natural perfumery who want something closer to a raw-material study than a polished commercial composition.
DNA over time
Each column is an era. Each colored band shows that family’s share of accord weight across every perfume the house released in that window. Bigger band = the house leaned harder on that family.
