By the editors · 2 min readRoja, the eponymous flagship, is the house's most classical statement. A sliver of bergamot, then a small floral heart of May rose and ylang acting as a hinge — and from there the scent is all base.
Ginger and cinnamon warm the opening of the drydown; oakmoss, patchouli and iris construct a chypre frame; civet and ambergris pull in the animalics; labdanum, benzoin, vanilla, clove and styrax fill the resinous middle ground. The architecture is mid-century European: a dark, slow, layered oriental-chypre with no modern shortcuts. It wears formal — projecting strongly for the first few hours and dropping to a moss-and-resin trail that lasts well into the next day.
