By the editors · 2 min readAutour de Minuit — Around Midnight — is built from just four notes, and Yves Rocher's restraint reads as intention rather than limitation. Mandarin opens briefly before yielding to iris, the dominant material and clear compositional focus. The iris here reads earthy-rooty rather than powdery, cooler and slightly mineral — closer to the raw rhizome than the classic perfumery powder. Vetiver and patchouli compose the base together: dry smoky earthiness from one, humid depth from the other.
It is a minimal composition that works because each element earns its place. Around midnight is exactly when this makes sense — cool, slightly mysterious, asking nothing of the wearer except the right occasion.
