Mexx
Effortless style for everyday life.
Mexx is a Dutch fashion and lifestyle brand founded in Amsterdam in 1986 by entrepreneur Rattan Chadha. Its fragrance line launched in the 1990s as an extension of the clothing business, offering simply packaged and affordably priced scents aimed at a young, fashion-conscious consumer. The bottles shared the brand's clean, contemporary graphic identity — minimal, urban, and positioned as European casual-cool accessible to a broad market. The house was acquired by Liz Claiborne in 2001 and subsequently passed through several ownership structures as Liz Claiborne rebranded itself as Kate Spade & Company. Mexx's retail operations filed for bankruptcy in the Netherlands in 2014, though regional licensing agreements have kept the name active in various markets. The fragrance line, produced largely by contract manufacturers and distributed under regional license arrangements, has continued under different operators. No single perfumer is prominently associated with the catalog.
DNA over time
Each column is an era. Each colored band shows that family’s share of accord weight across every perfume the house released in that window. Bigger band = the house leaned harder on that family.
